Celebrated as Hollywood’s “party of the year,” the Golden Globes honor excellence across film, television, and, for the first time, podcasting, reaching audiences in more than 185 countries worldwide. Since its inception in 1944, the awards have donated over $55 million to entertainment-related charities including scholarship programs, film restoration projects, and humanitarian efforts.
Known as an early Oscar bellwether, the 2025 Golden Globes diverged from the Academy Awards by naming The Brutalist as Best Drama and Emilia Pérez as Best Comedy/Musical. Ultimately, neither film secured the Best Picture Oscar, which was awarded to Anora. However, the Globes successfully predicted three of the four acting Oscar winners: Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) for Best Actor, Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain) for Best Supporting Actor, and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) for Best Supporting Actress.
Mikey Madison (Anora) earned the Best Actress Oscar after losing the Golden Globe for Comedy/Musical Actress to Demi Moore (The Substance). Meanwhile, Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here) won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Actress, and Sebastian Stan (A Different Man) took home the award for Best Comedy/Musical Actor. Both Torres and Stan went on to receive Oscar nominations, though Stan was nominated for The Apprentice rather than A Different Man.
