Great. Cut NASAs budget and blow what remains on something useless.

How and why? NASA’s budget is severely cut and I don’t think we’ve built anything on the moon beyond a couple of golf tee-offs. Ohhhhhh…. Makes sense now. Trump wants new golfing experiences and worries it wont get done before his death, so they’re doing everything they can to make it happen.

Ok now that’s based and it would genuinely be a gigantic, century defining technological breakthrough. Space is the new frontier.

I’d much prefer they fast track new NPPs here on Earth.

For why????
Oh yeah… to give money to corporations to “develop” the plan…only to find that the plan is reduculous and unacheivable

For what purpose? What would it power? Is it to power something on Earth? How would you transmit the power it creates to Earth? Through delusion?

Why in the ever loving fuck would someone want nuclear on the moon for a future lunar base? It would make 1000% more sense to have solar and battery power than nuclear considering the moon gets a shitload of sunlight. Also would be significantly easier than nuclear.

Fucking sure, why not?
This’ an efficient use of resources and is possible, absolutely.

I’ll believe it when I see it loaded on a payload module being integrated onto a rocket.
Until then, wunderwaffen.

My unscientific hot take. How would you maintain cooling a reactor on the moon? What would be used as a readily accessible coolant? I feel as though this is not feasible until the cost of launching tonnage into space drastically decreases.

Real world/road rules star Sean Duffy has decreed that we must have a nuclear reactor on the moon… But we can’t spend a lot of money on it.
What a time to be alive!

In this thread: people who don’t understand that we should probably do this regardless of the current political environment and reap the long term benefits of whatever scientific advancements are needed to make it possible.

There are technically a few small ones up there already. They brought em up to run the science experiments after they left.

We’ve already put (very small) nuclear reactors on the moon:

I wish it was the dumbest thing today but I just read a President harrasing Taylor Swift
For what purpose? It’s not like we have a colony on the moon.
They can’t regulate a power plant on earth how are they going to regulate one on the Moon
This is going to be as amazing as Trump’s healthcare plan which I believe is due in… two weeks. Can’t wait!
“Alexa, how much water does a lunar nuclear reactor require?”
How about we build more nuclear reactors on Earth, first?
Have you seen the newer Time Machine movie?! You want Morlocks?! That’s how you get Morlocks!
We live in just the stupidest fucking timeline
What are they going to launch it on? Giant slingshots? It’s not like NASA has the budget for it.
I am genuinely surprised they didn’t make it a coal power plant
Step 1: Destroy NASA
Step 2: Go to the moon
Step 3: Profit
And here’s where we crack the moon in half and have a situation like in the Time Machine or Thundarr the Barbarian.
Honest question, how would you get the power back from the moon?
“Fast track.”
We can’t even land there again. Morons.
How about we work on basic rights and the health of its people first.
