Alec Luhn was last seen July 31st in the afternoon and has not been heard from since Thursday. He was headed from Odda, Norway on a solo backpacking trip to explore the glacier U/Folgefonnanational Park. He planned to stay at DNT Holmaskjer and DNT Breidablikk and finish Monday morning at Årsnes Kai bus station.
Red Cross search with volunteers and dogs and helicopters is underway in the area.

Good luck, I hope he turns up. The weather is awful up there now, maybe he’s been sheltering and that’s why he hasn’t come down.
Praying that he’s found safe and sound
Good luck. I truly hope he’s sheltered somewhere now.
> Politiet beskriver mannen som fjellvant, godt utstyrt og i god form.
This is good. He is not like the German tourist who shared a tent with a friend for the night at Kjerag
Hiking in running shoes, a t-shirt, and jeans. He had just the car keys on him. Nothing else. Wandering and lost during the night in bad weather. Lucy to meet a guy who camped there. Luckily the guy agreed to take him into his tent for the night.
Hope he is safe and sound. Keep us posted here once there are any news please.
That’s so scary, hope he turns up. Did he forget to check the weather forecast?
Does he have any experience with glaciers or mountaineering? I heard the police described him as well prepared, so lets hope he is sheltering for the bad weather. Hope they find him soon!
Hopefully he stays in one place where it is possible to find him, and he is not seriously hurt. Many times, the most dangerous thing to do in these situations is to wander aimlessly in awful weather. It uses a lot of energy to move in bad weather.
I hope they find your friend! 🙏🏻
he does not cary any satellite tracker?
Fudge…. as a Norwegian, I pray he is found safe and sound and that nothing bad has happen. Also, be aware a lot of people likely watch the youtube videos about climbers, so dont be disheartened by some comments. People tend to forget in situations like this, is a real human being missing. I tend to watch videos like that myself to remind myself how dangerous it can be in the mountains, and I see some comments that sorta go in that direction. Its quite different to actually go hiking and watching videos.
I am sorry!❤️ I do hope that he is found soon. The weather sucks right now, and visibility is so bad. There is a lot of fog, rain, and wind. This makes the search more difficult and slow going.
I just checked with some locals here. Gossip (and just gossip) says that it seems that he was last seen in Buerdalen and that there are no signs that he went up the glaciar. This may be a good sign. The area is treacherous, though.
I will give you an update if I hear any updates.🤞fingers crossed that he is sheltering in place and safe.
I wish you and your friend the very best. To wait for someone that is missing can be a harrowing ordeal. Take good care of yourself.
