Inflation in Kosovo 4.3% – citizens complain about unaffordable prices

The shopping bill continues to be a burden on the pockets of many citizens.
The latter say that they have recently noticed an increase in the price of some basic products.
One of them even describes the situation as alarming.
“I don’t know where I’m going to go without income, with social security, is it possible to live because I live on social security, where did I get the letter, you have to do the math, I got 3 items for 6.10 cents, this is more than enough, I don’t even think about it, there is no salary, they are taking away the poor people who are even stronger than me, as a couple, I am a disaster after a disaster, all the sugar has blinded me, no income has been requested. Family members are begging me with hunger, I drink here, it’s a disaster, and they are all fighting with the authorities, “said a citizen.
The same opinion about prices is shared by a pensioner, who says that the cost of products is making his living more difficult.
“Ours is a cap increase. For us pensioners, what a disaster,” Shala said.
Citizens also have complaints about the prices of fruits and vegetables in the markets.
“Our beds are so dirty, I have nothing to do but I have to take them. I complained about 200 euros, and my pension has not been increased for two years,” said another citizen.
However, there were those who did not see these prices as too high.
“I think our prices are very realistic. People can say anything, but I don’t think they are very high. But by our standards, the prices are very realistic,” said another citizen.
Even a vendor at the market says that prices are cheaper this year, at least for basic products.
“Compared to last year, this year they are cheaper with Boston potatoes and onions and everything, but there are complaints from consumers as always, but the prices are not what I would say as a trader, they are cheaper and normal grocery stores are more expensive for fruits and vegetables, I can honestly say that consumers do not come and see for themselves,” said Beqir Avdiu, a seller at the market.
Meanwhile, the representative of the Consumers’ Association criticizes institutions for lack of support.
“There is no help from the state because we are ignored by the state through its institutions, the government and the parliament, it does not recognize the citizen as a consumer and what is worse about this, it does not even recognize the fundamental rights of a human being as a citizen as a consumer. We were once tax payers as such, we finance the state, we also finance political parties and it is being seen what is being done and on those who do not recognize us, other evidence is being brought that can rob us of the budget and not be held accountable,” said Kaqanik.
According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, inflation for the sixth month was 4.3 percent.
