> Multiple sources have described how gang leaders, who keep one step ahead of the authorities by changing mobile phone numbers and the gang’s name, subjected their henchmen and migrants to violent beatings.
They evade the police by changing numbers and doing a rebrand? They’re dodging the authorties the same way Yodel doged a bad reputation.

Superb work. Just wish the authorities could do so.

How exactly is it that the BBC can discover this, and not the police, despite channel smuggling basically being public priority #1 for the past decade?

What a joke this situation is. They smuggle people over, then come over here themselves and successfully claim asylum.
Nothing will be solved unless the demand is stopped, asylum is blocked, and everyone involved deported.

Man. Govt need to get very brutal with immigration in general. Look at the guys organising these crimes…Once they get in they just bring more and more in.

>In June 2024, we tracked down Jabal to a migrant reception centre in Luxembourg and confronted him on the street. He denied any involvement and, although we promptly informed the French police, quickly disappeared.
Did they expect him to stick around? Glad you got a chance for a final interview BBC but the violent channel smuggling criminal got away because you didn’t inform the police first…

Perhaps instead of scrapping the BBC licence fee they could scrap the BBC, keep the fee and just divert the money to the Police. They might get off their lazy backsides and sort this stuff out.

The trafficking gangs we’ve known about for years use violence?
Does the human trafficking ombudsman know about this?

So, that investigation was thorough and provided us with people that could be arrested. Then the BBC chose to confront them instead of handing that detail to the police? Now they’ll have to start again.
