  1. The Goes Wrong Show was the single funniest original comedy show I had ever seen on the BBC, can’t recommend it enough.

To see great shows like that get cancelled while Mrs Brown’s Boys keeps getting renewed despite the cast being racist, tax dodgers and quite frankly talentless, is completely mind boggling.

  2. ObjectiveHornet676 on

I refuse to believe that 8.5 million people ever watched Mrs Brown’s Boys.

  3. I have never watched even one nanosecond of this programme yet somehow aware that it is the worst thing ever devised. How could it possibly have gotten worse?!

  4. I love the phrasing of this so much.

“Fans complain ‘it’s got even worse.'”

As though the fans *themselves* already acknowledged it was shite to begin with.

  5. SinisterPixel on

Wild to me it had 8.5 million viewers to lose. I think I’d be more entertained reading the back of a Dettol bottle while sat on the can with the worst stomach this side of the country.

  6. I even liked the first few series. Everyone in the new one just felt tired, to the point when they dropped *spoiler* I really thought they had decided to wind it up

  7. reminds me of Extras with Ricky putting on fake glasses and a wig, that’s the level of this dross

  8. Skeet_fighter on

I refuse to believe that it could have gotten “even worse”. It’s already one of the worst TV programmes I’ve ever seen.

  9. This is a show a lot of elderly people watch, it’s been going on for 15 years? Give or take, a lot of the original viewers are probably dead now.

  10. somnamna2516 on

Hate how he says “feck” all the time. It’s like he’s watched Father Ted and thinks that’s what made it funny, not that it was a million times wittier and more surreal than this *fecking shite*

Didn’t know it was still on. I thought it got axed they had a final Xmas special about 7 years ago I thought.

First season was alright since it was new but didn’t hold my interest long, especially after their movie. Then they started using the same jokes and punch lines as if they only ever wrote 10 jokes.

  12. I can’t be the only one who just wants to give the mole on his face a big ol’ slap.

  13. This show has always felt like a relic that has somehow been dragged out the late 80’s and brought into the modern day, cannot understand how it became so popular.

  14. I hate it so much I can’t even look at a still image of it. Its honestly just so fricken bad. I can’t handle it!!

  15. DevilishLighthouse on

Never watched it, but the trailer for the new series has a pimp my ride joke. In 2025.

  16. Only_Tip9560 on

For some inexplicable reason my father loves this programme. It is utter tripe. That it ever got those ratings in the first place is a damning indictment of our society.

  17. All the old boomers loved it. Maybe there’s a correlation between the drop in viewers and the death rate of boomers?

  18. “Fans” are saying it’s even worse? So the fans already thought it was shit? What?

  19. SEUKDnDSeeker on

Tbh I’m surprised Rowling hasn’t scraped some of the mould off her walls and emerged from her cave to condemn this blatant act of womanface.

  20. I know I’m not the first one with this comment, but I’m going anyway:

How is it possible to be worse?

This is one of the worst pieces of television ever to exist, it was through the bottom of the barrel and three floors into the basement from the off.

I know it’s the Reddit hive mind but the Mrs Brown’s hate is weird. It’s not for you. It’s not really for me either, but it’s an older style of humour. One day all the things you like will be hated and you won’t understand why. All the ways you are politically correct will be insulting to future people and you’ll think they’re just woke.

  22. I_am_Reddit_Tom on

Never understood the hate. Like it or don’t, and my family is split. But to hate it this much?

  23. DangerousToast on

It’s good to know that while fascist thoughts are no longer hidden whispers that you will still never see someone openly admit to being a MBB fan.

Series 1 was pretty funny. A lot of reused jokes and old humour but well enough put together that it got a few laughs out of me. Series 2 was…fine. By series 3 it was done. God knows what dirt Brendan O’Caroll has on the BBC to keep getting recommissioned.

  25. My Nan used to watch this all the time when she was alive, I would come in and she would be in fits of giggles, sometimes crying of laughter. I am glad it existed because of the joy it brought her but I remember the one time I had to sit through it  they full on stole the “I’m serious and don’t call me Shirley” joke from Airplane. Word for word.

  26. WinchesterMediaUK on

    This is total bullshit.

The 10m figures are the consolidated figures for four specific episodes from 2013, two of which were Christmas Specials. Those are the only episodes to top 10m.

The 1.5m figure is an overnight figure that will increase in the next three weeks.

1.5m is more or less on par for the Friday night 21:30 slot.

  27. My Irish mum loved it and to be fair, for it’s first few series it was fairly funny when it wanted to be. The writing was always naff but The best parts were because the cast were all family members and not very good so they’d mess their lines up. The smart thing they did was make it a part of the show. Brendan would also enjoy ribbing them for stuffing up their lines and he’d make them squirm for it. He’d also run amuck through the set and occasionally annoy the floor staff too. Sadly as they got better at remembering their lines the writing didn’t improve to counter those unpredictable moments. He was also able to tap into a very specific type of character, an irish aunt that everyone kinda recognises as someone they knew in Ireland. 🇮🇪

When he was at his best he had a very rare knack of making my mum absolutely cry with laughter. Absolute howls of laughter. I’d pay anything to hear her laugh one more time. Sadly she passed away in 2020 so that won’t be possible. But I can never slag off something that made her happy even when she had been told she had less than 2 years to live he was still able to make her laugh. You may not get it but for a select few he had a special something that made them smile. You have to get it or you won’t like Madea.

  28. TheGardenBlinked on

No one ever talks about how awful the theme tune is. You’d think that’d be enough to dissuade folk

  29. bigfatfacethrowaway on

Honestly thought my Mum was the only one who watched it and she died 5 years ago, god love her

  30. I wanna pull out my “Mrs Browns Boys is brilliant at what it’s trying to be, you just don’t understand it because it’s not supposed to be for you and it’s not trying to be” post and get a thousand downvotes again.

You’re telling me someone who regularly posts on Reddit doesn’t understand why this show was so popular? I simply can’t believe that. That doesn’t make any sense.

  31. “.. it’s got even worse”

    How is that even possible?

Wait. got worse, so they knew it was bad before but kept watching it?

  32. I’ve left living rooms when that was advertised as coming up next if I though there was any chance the person in charge of the remote control was going to watch it.

  33. I would like a copy of the negatives that Brendan has that he threatens the BBC with to get this untalented shite renewed season after season.
Lets face it, even the Beeb must have some sort of gun to their head to keep commissioning something as amusing as polio

  34. Due-Resort-2699 on

I swear every week I read about this programme and show shite it is yet it remains on air consistently for years

  35. calder_mccoll on

I’ve called Mrs Browns boys “Chubby Brown/Jim Davidson comedy”, same hack BS.

  36. I watched a bit of this shite once. Does it still have that weird segment where the cast purposefully corpse…which is somehow funny.

  37. ‘Gotten worse’ so the anti-woke types who probably liked this show have been so successfully been brainwashed by the whole anti drag queen stuff that they don’t like it any more?
