Spain has reclaimed the top spot in the FIFA Women’s World Ranking, surpassing the United States, following their runner-up finish at the European Championship this past July, where they lost the final to England.
The Spanish national team, which previously held the number one position from December 2023 to June last year, now leads with 2,066.79 points—narrowly ahead of the U.S., who have 2,065.06 points. Sweden ranks third with 2,025.26 points.
The team led by Montse Tomé has earned this return to the summit through strong performances. Spain won five of their six matches in Switzerland, delivering dominant results and showcasing a distinctive, solid style of play. They ended the tournament as the highest-scoring team.
England, who defeated Tomé’s side in the July 27 final in Basel via penalty shootout, sit fourth in the FIFA rankings with 2,022.64 points, while Germany rounds out the top five with 2,011.56 points.
