“I sent this decision to the competent bodies for the organization and implementation of the elections, and I expect maximum commitment to the realization of a fair and democratic process. I inform you that during the election campaign, which begins twenty days before the elections, the Assembly will continue its regular administrative functioning, but will not hold plenary sessions. This decision aims to avoid the misuse of the parliamentary rostrum for electoral purposes and to give deputies the opportunity to fully devote themselves to communication with citizens. I would like to emphasize that elections are not simply a technical process, but are the essence of our democracy. They are a real opportunity for citizens to elect leaders who reflect responsibility, vision and commitment to the public interest. Thus, October 19, 2025 marks an important moment for strengthening democracy, improving the well-being of citizens and building a better future for all,” the written statement reads. Gashi on the occasion of the announcement of local elections.
As Speaker of the Assembly, he emphasizes, I am aware of the importance of the unifying role entrusted to me, as well as the responsibility I have to guarantee the integrity and impartiality of our institutions. Gashi sent a clear and sincere call to all political forces, candidates and relevant structures to demonstrate a high level of political culture.
“Avoid any form of pressure, divisive language and any attempt to instrumentalize institutions and public resources for party interests. This is a process that must focus on the citizen, his real needs and challenges, and on the concrete solutions that each candidate must offer. I expect this process to be a testament to our democratic maturity, where rules are respected, dignity prevails, and the free will of citizens is reflected, and not the result of pressure or manipulation. In these elections, it is necessary to demonstrate European values and standards to reflect our unwavering commitment to integration. Wishing success to all candidates and political parties that will participate in these elections, I hope that these local elections will be a competition where ideas and visions for a better future will be at the center of discussions”, he emphasized.
