Graphic by me created in Excel. I wanted to examine how Toyota’s models have been selling recently, relative to the same time period last year. Percentages reflect change in sales from June 2024 to 2025. Numbers reflect sales in June 2025.
I also added different shades to show gas only vs hybrid vs electric vehicle sales. Toyota sells almost no EVs, but a substantial amount of hybrids.
Explanation for some of the large changes: Venza was discontinued, Tacoma and Land Cruiser were just starting to ramp up production in spring 2024, Grand Highlander appears to be stealing Highlander customers.
Edit: Land Cruiser text value is incorrect, but bar length and percentage change is correct
I’m surprised Toyota still sells so many trucks. Don’t get me wrong, if I had to buy a truck it would probably be a Toyota.
But where I live at least, Ford and GM have a solid hold on the “work truck” demographic, Ram is mostly for people who don’t *need* a truck, and Rivians are for people who don’t need a truck but aren’t obnoxious.
I still see more Rivians and cyber trucks than Toyotas, or maybe the latter two just stand out more?

Surprised the land cruiser is selling, I thought Toyota subs hated the hybrid engine

Are they only selling two PHEVs?

Looks like the Venza is not long for this world.

I’m so amused by the Mirais I see. There’s two on the same street at my in-laws. I work next to a hydrogen station.

It’s hard to understand how bad Toyota fucked up with the Sequoia despite all the other green. It really pisses me off because I want a full size 7/8 seater that’s reliable and it’s the main option but they had to get cute and go hybrid only + solid rear axle which really fucks up the 3rd row and rear cargo. And it seems like they’re ok with just having 1-2 at every dealer at most and just sitting at or above MSRP.
So… the vehicles that have gained the most new sales from last year are the biggest vehicles? The High Lander, the Land Cruiser, the Tacoma and the Sienna?
Is there anyway to get Americans to move away from bigger and bigger vehicles?

All Camrys are hybrid now?

What made Americans finally start to appreciate vans again? Maybe wagons are next?
Seems obvious that the GR86 is next on the chopping block after the Supra. RIP reasonably-priced sports cars.

Wait didnt they just refresh the prius??

I’m so sad they discontinued making the Prius V… as a tall guy, I could fit in it and drive it comfortably

I hope they don’t cancel Crown Signia due to slow sales and tariffs.

Toyota only sells one EV and two PHEV, and then they use their low EV sales as evidence that people don’t want EVs in their lobbying.

I would love to see a Hybrid FJ Cruiser.
