On Sunday, 10 sernia, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky conducted telephone conversations with the Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, as well as with the Presidents of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The head of state reported this on his Telegram channel.

    During talks with Sweden, the parties discussed current diplomatic issues. Zelensky emphasized Sweden’s support for the need for a rapid, fair, and reliable end to the war and the application of effective pressure on Russia to achieve peace.

    “Sweden, like all Nordic countries, clearly supports the necessity of the fastest, fairest and most reliable end to the war and effective pressure on Russia. It is Russia that must take steps to end the war, which it started itself. We will continue to coordinate with Sweden and other partners to strengthen our positions.”

    Defense cooperation and future steps

    As part of the discussion with Sweden, the prospects for cooperation on the development of Ukraine’s military aviation were discussed. The leaders of both countries touched on the issue of selecting combat platforms for Ukraine’s future air fleet and joint work on this topic.

    Zelensky also thanked Sweden for defense support amounting to four billion dollars, which Ukraine received this year. Ulf Kristersson confirmed Sweden’s firm commitment to support Ukraine by all possible means and within the framework of the European coalition.

    “We are the fifth-largest donor to Ukraine in the world and will continue to provide military, humanitarian and financial assistance, guided by Ukraine’s needs. Sweden fully supports the recent statement by European leaders on peace in Ukraine.”

    Contacts with Kazakhstan and the next steps

    After the conversation with Kristersson Zelensky informed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about diplomatic efforts with the United States and European partners, as well as agreements regarding a meeting of security advisers. Also discussed were joint steps to strengthen interstate contacts and align positions.

    “Unfortunately, Russia is doing everything to drag out hostilities, refuses to stop killings despite the deadlines stated, and is trying to bargain for better positions on the ground for future strikes. Such destruction by Russia must stop.”

    The parties agreed to maintain contact and work on bringing relations between the countries and peoples closer. Zelensky invited Tokayev to visit Ukraine on an official visit. In response, Kazakhstan expressed respect for the Ukrainian people and interest in a peaceful settlement based on international law.

    Energy cooperation and regional stability

    A discussion also took place with Ilham Aliyev. Zelensky congratulated the Azerbaijani leader and people on the agreements reached, which are expected to positively affect stability in the South Caucasus region with the mediation of the United States. They discussed aspects of energy cooperation and ways to deepen joint work in this area.

    After a series of meetings, the leaders reaffirmed the importance of sustained cooperation, continued dialogue with the United States and European partners, and joint efforts toward peace and security in the region. They also discussed concrete steps to stabilize the energy market and implement joint projects in the future.
