Koci: A Kosovar couple was detained in Serbia, their gold was confiscated pending a court decision

Lawyer Arianit Koci has called for increased caution when crossing the border with Serbia.
He says that “any traveler carrying more than €10.000 per person – in cash or valuables – must declare it. Failure to declare results in the temporary confiscation of the amount or items and the initiation of legal proceedings,” he says.
He provided this information after “today, a Kosovar couple was stopped at the entrance to Serbia and thoroughly searched,” says Koci.
“Since they did not declare the bride’s dowry (gold jewelry), which was worth more than the allowed limit, they were detained and the gold was confiscated until the court’s decision,” Koci said, according to Express.
“Tomorrow they will be brought before the Serbian court, which has territorial jurisdiction over the border where they were stopped,” he said.
