“The Party of the “Serbian World” – DUI, is a party in whose mandate the borders with Serbia were widely opened, fast lanes and traffic facilitation were established, while with Kosovo, our closest neighbor, they remained closed to real economic and political cooperation,” this is how the VALEN coalition reacted.

This reaction from VLEN came after DUI warned about the opening of the Serbian bank “Alta Bank” and investments of 50 million euros by Telecom Serbia in Macedonia under the current government.

“In the years when DUI was part of all governments, daily direct lines with Belgrade were established and maintained – economic, political, and even security. Meanwhile, with Kosovo, with which we share a community, language, culture, and a common future in Euro-Atlantic integration, ties were neglected, remained formal and without strategic support. DUI turned Belgrade into the first address for talks and agreements, while leaving Pristina on the margins of politics,” reads the VLEN response.

“Instead of opening economic corridors towards Kosovo, they opened them towards Serbia; instead of intensifying trade and business exchange with Kosovo, they allowed Serbian capital and dubious businesses to dominate our market. Lunches and dinners were regular, where Ali Ahmeti and Bujar Osmani were well received by Serbian President Vučić. It is clear to everyone that this policy is not accidental. It is the result of conscious decisions and choices of Ali Ahmeti, Bujar Osmani and DUI, who have continuously strengthened the “Serbian world” in Macedonia, neglecting the natural and necessary cooperation with Kosovo. “Open Balkans” was their most important initiative in foreign policy. Citizens deserve a foreign policy that will build Macedonia as a bridge to its friends, and not as a gateway for the interests of dubious centers of power,” reads the VLEN response.
