The Technological University of Tecamachalco (UTTECAM) in Puebla has formed partnerships with the Wadhwani Foundation and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Mexico to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainability initiatives in the region. The agreements will expand the university’s educational programs and support circular economy projects aimed at benefiting students, faculty and the local community.
Salvador Fernández, President, UTTECAM, led meetings to formalize cooperation with the Wadhwani Foundation India–Mexico. Through this partnership, the university will adopt the Ignite, Liftoff and Accelerate programs, which focus on developing entrepreneurial, digital and socioemotional skills among students and academic staff.
The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, through its Sustainability Directorate, will support the creation of a circular economy model in Tecamachalco, concentrating on municipal solid waste management through cooperative and social solidarity approaches.
With the backing of Alejandro Armenta, Puebla Governor, UTTECAM aims to leverage the Wadhwani Foundation’s global training network to enhance the competencies of its educational community. Simultaneously, the collaboration with the Spanish Chamber seeks to implement practical, locally driven solutions to address waste management in the region.
Under the Por Amor a Puebla (For Love to Puebla) initiative, the solid waste treatment model in Tecamachalco will be a key component of the circular economy strategy. The project aims to reduce environmental impact while fostering cooperative management and community participation in resource administration.
UTTECAM officials said both partnerships underscore the institution’s growing role as a center for education committed to preparing leaders to address future challenges.
