Croatia has announced a new €21.2 million subsidy programme to encourage companies to purchase zero-emission vehicles. The scheme, run by the State Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, offers incentives ranging from €2,500 to €9,000 per vehicle, or up to 40 percent of the purchase price.
Unlike neighbouring Slovenia, where subsidies are open to all buyers, Croatia’s programme targets commercial buyers, including those interested in buses and trucks. The maximum grant per company is €90,000. Cars, vans, and minibuses can receive up to €9,000, while electric mopeds and microcars are eligible for smaller amounts. Hydrogen-powered vehicles are also covered.
The programme will run until 31 May 2026, with the start date of applications yet to be announced. Companies in road haulage and taxi services are excluded, but a separate €45 million scheme for those sectors is being prepared by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition. Another €45 million, in cooperation with the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development, will support transport decarbonisation projects.
