TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A judge has ordered a Toledo bar that is near the site of a recent shooting that killed two people and injured two others to close for the next year.

Court filings show Judge Joseph Howe ordered Agenda Sports Bar on Matzinger Road to close for a year, agreeing with the city’s claims the bar is a public nuisance.

The court ordered the location to close to the public immediately “as it constitutes immediate and irreparable harm to the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Toledo, Ohio,” the court filing read.

The city’s law director filed a complaint just days after the 4th of July holiday weekend shooting at the bar. It cited numerous incidents of violence at Agenda Sports Bar since 2022 as evidence that it is “a menace to the general health of the community.”

The location faced closure in 2021, but avoided the year-long after reaching settlement that included adding security and age restrictions on those it admitted to the bar.

The bar’s owner previously told 13 Action News last month he was doing everything he can to comply with the city’s requests to keep the peace at the bar.
