A total of four people were arrested during the protests on “drug possession” charges: Giorgi Akhobadze, Nikoloz Katsia, Anton Chechin, and Tedo Abramovi.

Akhobadze was the first to be acquitted a few weeks ago, and today Abramovi was also found not guilty.

The outcomes for Katsia and Chechin’s cases remain unknown.

In total, more than 60 people arrested during the anti-government/pro-EU protests have spent over eight months in pre-trial detention or have been sentenced to two to five years in prison. Only two have been acquitted, and both of those cases involved alleged drug possession.

  2. So will they sue the police who arrested them ? 8 months in prison for false accusations should result in some compensation

  3. I don’t see the logic in this repressions.

Why do they go after people and give ridiculous charges and give away what they are really after – to oppress and silence people, rather than prosecute them for whatever they did on the protest?

By doing this, aren’t they losing support even among their voters? Am I the only one failing to see logic in these arests?

  4. Providing that Chechin. Zinovkina, Katsia cases are absolutely identical, they should be free soon. But who knows qocta logika
