It all sounds great to read as a title but is still a bollocks total pay rise when you look into it further.
I work for another supermarket and the store staff have had two rises in relatively short times but the latest is about 35p.
Sure, any pay rise is welcomed, but all these supermarkets do is just heap more and more work on them whilst cutting back in every other area.
Supermarket workers really do work hard for their money and deserve much more.

Isn’t Lidl notoriously hard to get full time work at?

Sounds like the pay raises are too low to start with lol

I’m surprised we haven’t yet seen a talking head politician on the BBC calling this pay rise “unsustainable”

I remmebrr working for aldi and thinking the pay was amazing
Its hard fucking work. Limited breaks. Rarely a fixed rotor without weekends. Long hours and a real struggle.
Also when sales are down, hours are down. Yes your paid okay but most likely your on a 25 hour contract and around Xmas you’ll struggle to get time off. Around January you’ll struggle to get the minimum hours.
I do not regret leaving. Also progression was incredibly poor except in few circumstances and you were expected to change stores if needed
