The Brascugli family is excited for their reunion in Eveleth, which is where Nicola settled after immigrating from Italy.
The Brascugli family is getting together for a family reunion this weekend in Eveleth.
It’s where Nicola Brascugli settled when he came over from Italy, back in 1899. The family told us he built the first brick house in Eveleth.
He worked in the mines, like many others who immigrated here.
This year, the family from the states will get to meet Fabrizio Brascugli, who is part of the family who didn’t leave Italy.
Fabrizio told us this is the first time in the states and Eveleth for him. “It’s a lovely city. I like the space,” he shared. “I’m very excited.”
The two sides of the family got connected after an Italian cousin started working on the family tree. Nicola and his family hailed from Sigillo, Italy. The first reunion was there, in 2018.
“You always think you’re the only one. And now we know there are Brascuglis all over the world,” Mary Brascugli-Rosett said.
There’s a whole weekend of fun on the Range planned for the roughly 50 members of the family. Some who still work in the mines!
