Passports of 50 Israeli tourists lost in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Around 50 tourists from Israel who have been staying in Sarajevo have reported that their passports have been lost, Bosnia and Herzegovina authorities have confirmed in a response to Radio Free Europe.
Zharko Laketa, director of Bosnia’s Foreign Affairs Service, said that work is underway to resolve the problem and that Israeli tourists will be issued travel documents.
In a later public appearance, he confirmed that he had information that “the passports were thrown away as a result of an accident.”
Several Israeli media outlets have reported that 47 Israeli tourists have been “stranded” in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that, according to them, their passports were “accidentally thrown into a hotel trash can.”
The police in Sarajevo are informed about the case, but have not provided further details.
She has not responded to Radio Free Europe as to which hotel the tourists are staying at.
According to Israeli media, the group of tourists was supposed to return from Bosnia on Saturday, but were unable to travel due to a lack of passports. /REL
