Bern cantonal MP Korab Rashiti has warned that Kosovo’s economy has entered a phase of self-destruction.

He says it doesn’t matter who will be in government in the next four years, but according to him, with this trend, they will be the most destructive years the country has ever experienced.

According to him, there is no real medium-term prospect for citizens to feel an economic improvement over the next ten years.

“No political force possesses in its arsenal a sustainable economic and legal strategy that could return the country to a stable and developmental course,” he wrote.

Kosovo’s economy has entered a phase of self-destruction!

It doesn’t matter who is in government – the next four years, on this trend, will be the most destructive years the country has ever experienced.

There is no real medium-term prospect for citizens to feel an economic improvement over the next ten years. No political force possesses in its arsenal a sustainable economic and legal strategy that could return the country to a stable and developmental course.

The Republic of Kosovo, since its declaration of independence in 2008 until 2020, has made continuous progress.

However, with this current direction, by 2030 the country risks turning into a vampire economy – a system that absorbs the energy and wealth of citizens without creating anything new – generating as a result a dramatic increase in internal social and political tensions.

Kosovo is entering a period of severe historical testing:

Or will it manage to emerge stronger and more mature as a society,

Or it will disintegrate into complete atomization, losing any potential for stability and development.

The time has come to show how mature Kosovo society is.

This means: will it fall into the trap of demagogy, or will the facts and understanding of the problems gradually be accepted?

Do we need figures and personalities who speak beautifully, or people who really do the work?

This is in your hands. But one thing is certain: for better days, the sacrifices will be great – and the price will have to be paid.
