I don’t think most people want to, they have no choice.

Not to be cynical, but there might be other things also at play here. The 3% of clinically obese people on ozempic probably make up close to 6% of the fast food sales.
Whatever the cause – people eating less fast food is excellent for public health, the NHS, Tax and living standards.

Filling up the basket seeing the full price and walking away is a normal experience now.
Even McDonald’s isn’t cheap anymore.

I’d like to think some of this is related to the weight loss drugs. Having used a few the idea if fast food on them is non existent
That being said, when I’m not on them my weekly food bill at Aldi is about £100. It’s silly

I think this is probably more due to significant amounts of people having healthier lifestyles.
Alcohol companies are struggling as the younger generation are just far more health conscious.

Minimum wage has risen too fast. Therefore everything is becoming unaffordable.

When I grew up, a takeaway was once a month treat (If that). I still don’t believe people buy it more than once a week.

I’ve also pretty much stopped buying drinks and any sweets. Plain water and nothing between meals as it’s too expensive

Corporate greed prices the average consumer out of the market.
“Oh no, our profits!?! We better up prices further!”
Remember when companies used to think it the terms of 1 or 2 decades not 1 or 2 quarters? Good times.

Fast food as cheap as healthy food? And no longer “ fast “?
I’m shocked

It’s changing trends and taste, and cost vs value.
Education on the disbenefits of fast food has finally sunk in beyond just the health-conscious so more people are buying less of it, and switched to something else. Takeaway coffees and toasted paninis are replacing burgers, chips and soft drinks for a lot of people. Personally I was never a fast food fan – was usually a drunken night thing rather than a go-to sober “meal”.
But cost vs value to a consumer, looking at the US for example, KFC has dropped way down in market share vs Chick-Fil-A and others. This is attributed to those other chains offering better quality for similar or less money. So when someone *does* decide “I’ve had a healthy week, let’s get a treat” then they’d go for another chain or an independent place rather than an established chain. Or splurge a bit more to get something unhealthy but also higher quality. For example when I’ve decided to get something unhealthy – I wouldn’t order a McDonalds, I’d spend a bit more (and tbh…not that much more) and get a Five Guys.

My shopping bill has gone up by a tenner since 2020. I am buying less and treat myself on special occasions only now, as opposed to every week back in 2020. I also had to stop donating to the food bank. How can I afford fast food when, despite getting a promotion and being top of that band, my weekly shop keeps going up?

Great news if you’re a dog who likes Pedigree Chum and champagne.

Good. Fast food = violence. All the wobbly people who frequent these places are the same as prisoners being forced to dig their own graves. Except they do it with a smile on their faces.
