    1. I’m all for more dentists being on the NHS again. Maybe every dentist practice has to have a certain percentage as NHS patients.

They have had 14 years to come up with something to fix this

Now the day after the election announcement they make a statement 🤡

    3. Not sure how they could force people to do that.

They could easily turn round and say no.

As for the have to pay back some of the 200K. well someone needs to tell the good minister. That they already have to pay back the whole 200k.

Just yet another pathetic indentured servitude plan from the party that destroyed UK healthcare so they can sell it to their mates.

Who pays for a dentist’s training? What right doest he Government have to “force” people?

      Fuck off
You lot had 13 years to sort this out.

Labour are going to reform NHS dental contract, Tory party can get to fuck with these late stage policy changes.

How many people need to visit a dentist due to their own complete lack of care? Yes, Im sure someone will reply to this post with “well actually I…” but I dont care. I would bet money that the vast majority of cases are people who don’t take care of themselves and don’t deserve NHS treatment in the first place.

I know this practice – USSR did that. The education was fully free, however interns must work where party says. So, you can be ordered to go to a far village to perform as a teacher there. If you don’t want, then you will be banned from any position for qualified people.

Why improve working conditions when you can use forced labour?

Almost guaranteed to be accompanied by a worsening environment later on. Why improve conditions when you can just force people to work in the NHS?

    9. They already do have to pay. Also almost all of them do work in the NHS after graduating. The issue is getting dentists to continue to offer NHS treatment throughout their careers. You don’t do that with frothy ill conceived threats. Perhaps they could compensate them for treatments that at least allow them to break even.

    10. The state subsidises the education it is reasonable for the state to ask/enforce some support.

Ahh yes, let’s make 0 hour contract company practices a national staple, absolutely nothing bad could ever come of this.

I’ll add something else. Labour could have said something as well. All these years of silence from them are very telling. The disinterested attitude of the British establishment to mundane problems of the country is why there’s a good chance of a hung parliament the disgust is palatable.

I should say, I’ve been seeing newly trained young dentists for the past 17 years since I moved, n every single one has been great.

They train them in care, empathy n looking after patients now, not just drilling n yanking teeth, like the 60+ butcher I had since childhood. I guess training is far improved nowadays.
