SPORTS INFORMATION

Northwestern State Sports Information Department (SID) exist to aid the media in their coverage of Demon and Lady Demon athletics.  The NSU SID staff compiles and presents accurate information to the media on the Northwestern State athletics program utilizing press releases, information guides, emails and phone calls. Around the clock, the latest releases, notes and statistics for every NSU sport is available on the university’s official athletics website, www.NSUDemons.com.

Sports Information Department

The SID office is located on the westside of Prather Coliseum, room 112.  We are happy to serve the working media in anyway possible. Our staff will gladly fulfill all reasonable requests. 

Press/Photo Credentials

Northwestsern State University follows the guidelines set forth by the NCAA and the Southland Conference in governing the issuance of credentials. Please fill the appropriate Credential Request Form to apply for your pass.

Media Parking

Reserved parking for media covering Demon Football games are available with advance notice.  When requesting a football media credential, indicate the need for parking permit.

All other sports do not have reserved parking unless otherwise noted for special events.

Email Press Releases

Every press release by NSU Athletics is available via email.  To be added to the a sport specific press release distribution list, please send an email request to the sport contact. 

Player/Coach Interviews

ALL player or coach interviews for all sports must be schedule through the Sports Information Department through the sport contact.  In making interview requests, we ask for at least 24 hours notice.  Advance notice will hep ensure that your request will be handled efficiently within the confines of the student-athlete’s or coach’s busy schedule. Players may not be interviewed on game day once they enter the locker room or athletic training room. 

Post-Event Interview Policy

Football – Head Coaches and select players will be available for post-game interviews after a 10 minute “cooling off” period as prescribed by the NCAA. Prior to the 8:00 mark of the fourth quarter, NSU player/coach interview request should be made to the NSU Associate AD for External Operations, Jason Pugh or the Assistant Sports Information Director, Brad Welborn. NSU Coach Blaine McCorkle and players will speak post-game to media in the Stroud Room of the NSU Athletic Fieldhouse.

For all other sports, post event interviews will take place following a 10 minute cooling period at a determined location.

Contact the visiting SID regarding interviews with members of their coaching staff or players for all events.

Practice Coverage

Most practice sessions are open to the media coverage. Please contact the sport contact at least 24 hours in advance, if you are planning to attend a practice.
