SDSM accuses the government of failed economic policies. The spokesperson of this party, Bogdanka Kuzeska, says that North Macedonia is on the list of the poorest countries in Europe, while the government refuses to increase salaries despite the continuous decrease in the standard of living, Gazeta Express reports from Alsat.

Kuzeska says that a family with two minimum wage earners does not have enough money to cover monthly expenses. She points out that 2,7 minimum wages are needed to cover the union’s basket.

The SDSM’s reaction comes a day after the League of Trade Unions revealed that food costs have increased by 12% following the end of the government’s measures against price increases. According to the League of Trade Unions, a family in August spends about 65.500 denars on living expenses.

“The purchasing power of citizens has decreased by over 20 percent in one year, according to purchasing power we are in last place in Europe, while Macedonia is on the list of the poorest countries. These are the results of the failed policies of the VMRO-DPMNE Government in the past year… Citizens deserve better than a criminal government that leaves them alone to struggle with poverty and enormous bills. Urgent measures are needed to increase salaries, reduce living expenses and real care for the standard of living of citizens,” said Bogdanka Kuzeska, Spokesperson for SDSM.
