I’m from a country that doesn’t allow for releasing people accused of crimes if they pay bail so the system is not very familiar to me, but i just read in todays news about that lady at MCAST who stole millions of euros that she was allowed to pay bail and walk free until her trial.

But the bail was €75,000 in total (deposit of €50,000, a personal guarantee of €25,000), now how are they able to confirm that the money used for this are not coming from illegal means? I mean this lady was employed as a payroll manager, is it really normal for people like that to just have €75,000 saved up somewhere, or is it just OK to post bail using the money you’ve stolen?
Or am i misunderstanding how bail works 🙂

Welcome
Wait till you hear about the hundreds of thousands our lovelies in the government have stolen and they don’t even resign so as to make sure they are not investigated properly. <3
Not to mention; [https://daphnecaruanagalizia.com/2017/04/police-commissioner-eats-rabbit-mates-mgarr-bank-chairman-removes-bags-documents-pilatus-bank/](https://daphnecaruanagalizia.com/2017/04/police-commissioner-eats-rabbit-mates-mgarr-bank-chairman-removes-bags-documents-pilatus-bank/)
What you mentioned is child’s play.. Hopefully she gets the worst sentence possible.
Cuz she’s innocent until proven guilty (theyre all guilty btw)
Pretty sure that 50k deposit is MCAST money.
To post bail you have to provide a bankers cheque. So someone you know (family member for example) needs to go to the bank and arrange this cheque.
They have to deposit or get the funds from somewhere for the bank to provide the cheque.
The bank will do due diligence as to where the money is coming from. The court doesn’t check the source of funds.
You dont pay the personal guarantee 🙂 you pay the deposit. Personal guarantee takes effect when you break the bail so they forfeit the deposit and make you pay the guarantee cheers
MCAST: Massive, Cheques, All, Sent Twice
It’s Malta.
bail is bullshit, just an other way to run away if you have enough money. Being able to avoid laws if you’re rich enough is the classist shit ever.
