Hot summer conditions are expected to continue across Greece into September, the first month of autumn, with temperatures forecast to remain slightly above average.
Friday will bring a temporary spike in heat, with temperatures in the eastern mainland reaching 37 to 39, and possibly 40, degrees Celsius.
A slight cooling is expected on Saturday, with a more noticeable drop from Sunday to Monday as the summer “meltemi” winds take hold.
Meanwhile, severe thunderstorms are predicted Friday morning in the areas of Corfu and Paxos.
