New AI project from xAI seeks to “simulate Microsoft’s entire operations” using almost exclusively AI agents.

According to reports, Macrohard could make use of Grok (xAI’s chatbot) to spawn specialized AI agents tailored for tasks like coding, image/video generation, text, speech, testing, etc. Other innovations could include virtual user agents that simulate human users interacting with software in virtual machines until the product is polished.

To date, Microsoft has invested billions into OpenAI and integrated AI into Windows and Office. To this end, Musk, who’s been critical of OpenAI and Bill Gates, is positioning Macrohard as a direct competitor.

  2. Wow, does this mean the products would be virtually free for consumers, since they cost virtually zero labor to create?

  3. X to doubt.

A MIT report a few days ago said that 95% of businesses that replaced workers with Ai were now failing.

  4. Microsoft also makes hardware: Surface computers, Xbox game consoles, Azure cloud data centers. How will AI agents do this?

  5. Oh cool Elon just saying whatever bullshit comes into his head again while his fan boys glaze

  6. Nice! First he gave us FSD ( full self driving) at Tesla, just like he promised he would.  And now he’s gonna copy everything Microsoft does with this tech from xAI.  I can’t wait! This should be available next quarter, right?

  7. Me thinks somebody is desperate as their hardware business (Tesla) is contracting and going to be in financial trouble again soon.

  8. As a consumer, or a company buying a product, why would I want to pay the same for a lesser experience? AI chat box is ALWAYS worse than a real person. AI made products ALWAYS look like 90-95% of what a human can do.

I’ve purchased less of Amazon now because it’s so filled with AI garbage and recommendations I just get annoyed and close it down. Google is basically useable now with garbage, usually sourced from reddit, as the front page. My computer slows down and underperforms when AI or overlays are on. Removing it all literally makes it better.

  9. Microsoft earns more from cloud than they do from windows and office. What company in their right mind would opt to build their product on top of a cloud service built by an AI agent built by grok?

If Elon wants to prove that AI can write software all on its own, well, ok then good luck maybe he’ll finally crack that code (forgive the pun) and get usable vibe code results. But running a software company – ANY software company, let alone a cloud services provider – takes a heck of a lot more work than writing software.

There are an infinite number of reasons this is wildly stupid, but the most important part is compute.

  11. User: hello my name is John I have a problem with Azure.

BOT: Jello John I have a problem with Azure.
What can I help with today?

  12. What does that even mean? MSFT has one of the most diversified product offerings and balance sheets in corporate America (windows, office products, Xbox, azure cloud, bing search, LinkedIn, teams, edge browser). His ai is magically going to do all of that?

Getting AI to create a single basic application without program breaking bugs is a multi-month long process just to get basic functionality lol

Simulating Microsofts entire operation is not only stupid and unreasonable, it’s just another lie told by Musk to go along with his mountain of others

  14. This seems pretty goofy given that Microsoft itself is trying to do everything that Microsoft does using mostly AI agents.

It’s a lot more likely that Microsoft itself will succeed at being Microsoft using AI agents than Elon Musk will succeed at being Microsoft.

I can’t wait to see this dumpster fire. xOS and x365 powered by MechaHitler. I mean Musk’s brain must be fried from all the ketamine. Does he really believe that AI at this stage could ever do something like that?

  16. Hahahahaha Microsoft runs the US militaries JWCC. I.E. The military internet. I’m sure Elon does want to sabatoge the US Military, but obviously that’s not how ‘supporters’ of the US military will see it. Hey US Military, when is enough, enough, was it marines on the ground in California or do you need to shoot a 5 year old in the head? Live up to the legacy of an institution America can actually be proud of and stand up to this fucking administration, you’re literally the ones with the power.

  17. There are two glaring typos in the article in just the first few paragraphs. If this was even written by a human is wasn’t proofread by one.

  18. Lol – either he’s an idiot who believes this or a conman who thinks everyone else is an idiot

I think Elon thinks Microsoft is just one guy named Bill coding software like crazy

I have a feeling that 90% of AI “products” are just bubbles for infinite investment. Some things like translation and chat bots and so on are genuinely useful and will forever be in demand but things like this is just AIwashing at this point

Musk not understanding anything and over promising fantasy? Dude has a track record of being a blowhard, why is anyone listening to his ramblings?

Punishing and revoking buggy Windows updates should be doable. Seems legit.

Won’t work as long as it’s token prediction. LLMs can’t run this, I don’t think they will ever stop hallucinating – I use AI every day.
