It saddens me to learn that most traditional Maltese music (i.e. anything from before 2000) is quite hard to find, at least on YouTube, and especially in good quality. There are a few channels of YouTube which contain a hodge podge of songs from a wide variety of Maltese singers, however they’re far from being full or comprehensive catalogues. These channels are:

  1. Jonathan Galea
  2. Mychoicealfred (operated many channels, and also posted non-Maltese music)
  3. Maltese music

All these channels stopped uploading 12/13 years ago. Of course, there are various other channels which uploaded a song or two here or there (but not owned by the actual artists). Indeed this is the main problem with accessing traditional Maltese music, the artists are not on the internet, and their work is not digitised (if it is, it’s most likely done so unofficially by random people).

There are a few exceptions: comedy singer Joe Demicoli and RC priest/singer David Azzopardi have their own official channels with recent-ish uploads. Freddie portels and Alfred Rapa (R.I.P) both have their auto-generated YouTube Topic channels, with professional audio quality.

But overall, the many greats of Maltese music: Tony Camilleri, Enzo Gusman, Frans Baldacchino, John Laus, Joe Camilleri, The Greenfields, The Tramps, et al. lack accessible means to listen to all of their songs. I’m sure there are many more Maltese singers who simply have never had their work uploaded online ever.

So does anyone know how can I find the full albums and songs made by traditional Maltese singers/bands, especially in high quality online? Thanks!
