‘Catfish’ who tricked her best friend into thinking she had a boyfriend for 15 years and conned her out of thousands of pounds is jailed

It genuinely baffles me how people can fall for things like this and it happens alot more than I think we know.

She is obviously vulnerable and likely very lonely so I do feel some empathy for her.

I’m not trying to have a dig at the victims of these crimes but how do you go so long thinking you are in a relationship with someone you haven’t actually met? Just can’t wrap my head around it.

Also, I would have thought emotionally manipulating someone to scam money out of them was actually some sort of crime.
