KFOR reports on aerial interventions to extinguish fires across Kosovo following requests from institutions – details

In recent weeks, the NATO-led KFOR mission, at the request of institutions in Kosovo through the Emergency Management Agency, has assisted in extinguishing fires in several areas and locations.
KFOR assistance included reconnaissance activities and direct interventions on the ground. In particular, the US Aviation Task Force, assigned to the KFOR Regional Command East, made a significant contribution to extinguishing the fires by conducting several air operations.
In the municipality of Gjakova, on August 18, the crew carried out 12 water discharges in a five-hour period. In the municipality of Kamenica, on August 11, it responded 11 times during a six-hour flight. In Mitrovica, on July 26, it carried out 18 aerial extinguishing operations during a four-hour period, and in Drenas, on July 25, it had up to 39 interventions during a 20-hour period.
“KFOR remains ready, within its means and capabilities, to support the prevention and management of emergency situations in Kosovo,” the KFOR statement continues.
