Sheridan HS Football: Game week is here for Wyoming High School Football, as well as any other fall sport that has not yet started competition.
The 4-time defending 4A state champ Sheridan High School Football team is now in game week mode, as the Broncs prepare for their season opener this coming Friday at Cheyenne South.
Each team has been going in opposite directions over the course of the last 5-6 years.
Sheridan is currently on a state record 43-game winning streak, while the Bison are on a state record 47-game losing streak. dating back to 2019.
On top of that, the Broncs have never lost against the Bison.
Head Coach Jeff Mowry says those numbers can sometimes be fun to hear and talk about, but it doesn’t dictate how the next game is going to play out, especially at the start of a new season.
Kickoff in Cheyenne this Friday is at 6pm.
Big Horn/Tongue River HS Football:b Big Horn will play a scrimmage this coming Thursday in Casper, against the Natrona County sophomore team, while Tongue River will play an exhibition game on Saturday in Sheridan, against one of the Broncs’ JV teams.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Volleyball: The Sheridan volleyball team is scheduled to play at the Cheyenne Invitational.
Up first on Friday, is defending 4A State Champ Kelly Walsh.
The Lady Broncs are also scheduled to play Rock Springs and Star Valley that day.
On Saturday, the team will take on Green River and Riverton.
Meanwhile, Big Horn and Buffalo will compete on Friday and Saturday at the Douglas Invitational.
Tongue River is scheduled to play at an Invitational at Rocky Mountain, while Arvada-Clearmont and Kaycee are both scheduled to play various opponents at Lingle-Fort Laramie on Friday.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Cross Country: Sheridan, Tongue River and Buffalo are scheduled to start their season this coming Saturday at the UW Invitational in Cheyenne, while Big Horn is scheduled to compete the same day at Billings.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Girls Swimming: The Sheridan and Buffalo girls swimming and diving teams are scheduled to start their seasons this coming Friday and Saturday at Gillette.
Sheridan HS Tennis: Sheridan went 3-1 this past Friday in home duals meets vs. the 2 Casper teams.
The boys won both matches, while the girls defeated Natrona County, but lost against Kelly Walsh.
Sheridan is home again this weekend for a pair of North Conference Duals.
The Broncs and Lady Broncs are scheduled to play Cody on Friday and Powell on Saturday.
Tongue River/Big Horn HS Golf: Tongue River and Big Horn played in a 1-day meet back on Friday at Sundance.
Individually Savannah Tremain and Talitha Winfrey finished 1st and 3rd for the TR girls, while Easton Lewis was 2nd for the boys.
In the team standings, the Lady Eagles placed 1st and the Eagles were 3rd.
Both Tongue River and Big Horn are scheduled to host a 1-day golf meet this coming Friday at Kendrick Golf Course.
University of Wyoming Football: Tt’s also game week for the Wyoming Cowboys.
The Pokes are scheduled to kickoff their 2025 season, this coming Thursday at Akron.
Head Coach Jay Sawvel says the main problem last year was that there was not enough depth at certain positions, and after spending a lot of time on the recruiting trail, he’s hopeful that those positions have been reloaded.
Kickoff this Thursday is scheduled for 5pm.
The game will mark the first ever meeting between the Pokes and the Zips.
Denver Broncos Pre-Season Football: The Denver Broncos won their final pre-season game this past Saturday at New Orleans 28-19.
Starting quarterback Bo Nix was 10 of 14 passing for 110 yards, and 1 touchdown toss to Courtland Sutton.
Backup QB Sam Ehlinger was 22 of 31 passing for 198 yards, and 1 touchdown pass to Kyrese Rowan, plus he threw 1 interception.
Audric Estime ran for 1 TD, while kicker Will Lutz booted 3 field goals.
Denver’s defense had 4 sacks and recovered 1 fumble.
All NFL teams must cut their rosters to 53 players by tomorrow.
The Broncos start their regular season on Sunday, September 7th at home vs. Tennessee.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost all 3 games this past weekend at Pittsburgh and for the most part, the bats were a no-show.
Friday’s score was 9-nothing.
Saturday’s score was 5-1.
Brenton Doyle provided the 1, with a solo home run.
Yesterday’s result was 4-zip.
Thanks to those 3 losses, the Rocks have been mathematically eliminated from qualifying for the post season, making this year the 7th year in a row that the team will not be in contention for the World Series.
Colorado currently has a record of 37-94.
The New York Mets occupy the final wild card spot in the National League, and the Rockies trail them by 32 ½ games, with 31 games remaining on their regular season schedule.
The Rocks are off today and will begin a 3-game series tomorrow at Houston.
