Is it really worth the hassle? All we ever hear about it is a massive amount of arrests and some stabbing. Why is it allowed to take place?

  2. Two stabbings out of ~2 million revellers?

SHUT IF DOWN NOW! ITS A BLOODBATH! THEY’RE OUT OF CONTROL!!!!

It’s time to make this a ticketed event and locate it somewhere more appropriate, like the Pride route via Regent’s Street and Trafalgar Square.

There are too many stabbings each year, too many deaths, to just ignore the problem and pretend it doesn’t exist every year.

By all means, don’t end the celebrations, but enough is enough – it can’t go on in its current form.

Move the thing into a stadium with pay to enter and use the money to have a private security. Stop wasting police time, resources and tax payers money.

  5. Some of those arrests are for nothing, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. They tell you to get in the transit, take you to a station book you, then let you go next morning with no criminal record. The Met needs to publish figures, the arrests show that they’re doing their job.

  6. I havnt been for many years, but decided to pop along for a couple of hours with my 11 year old daughter. Took in a few sound systems, ate some jerk, walked along the parade route and bounced before it got too busy. She loved it, as did I. You can’t move it to another location, it would destroy all that makes it interesting, i.e all the systems down little side streets etc. we are blessed to have an event like this in our city, it’s totally unique.

  7. Two is actually a really low number and would indicate a significant policing success.

  8. This is worse than the Cordão da Bola Preta, the largest Rio street carnival

Who is saying it is normal because of the number of people attending already lost their mind

  9. Time to ban this night mare. The residents hate it it’s just in the too difficult tray for the mayor to make the right decision.

  10. I don’t think it should be banned myself.

Obviously I’m one person, I’m not going to see everything that goes on, but to me it seemed like a really good carnival today, that unfortunately had some bad things happen to some people. I did see an arrest, but i don’t think it should be banned.

I just don’t know why it isn’t banned. This doesn’t happen anywhere else on this scale.

When people say London is broken, this may the only thing where they have a point.

  12. If they were all waving union jacks and 400 people got arrested and there were multiple stabbings and all the shops had to install metal cages Reddit would be in an uproar calling for it all to be banned and that everyone was a nazi fascist.

Let’s see the crime in Glastonbury! Or the Reading and Leeds festivals which are known to be insane.

It should be banned. The amount of rubbish they leave behind is unreal. Hours of police time wasted .

Have just come back from carnival. The most dangerous thing experienced is the 50,000 steps I’ve done – feet are throbbing
