Up 62% over 4 years according to the ministry of justice. That’s quite a jump.
Ah yes, more newspapers quoting the statistics let out by The Centre for Migration Control, the right-wing pro brexit think tank that has since rebranded and totally doesn’t have a specific agenda or skews facts to fit a narrative.
Probably not the best place to get reliable non bias data from.
Here’s a fun experiment: ask chatgpt or grok, or Gemini or whatever AI you use, if the Centre for Migration Control is a reliable source of information.

2021 was right in the middle of COVID, which both saw significantly lower immigration and significantly lower crime more generally. Of course there would be an increase between 2021 and 2024, and of course it would outstrip British nationals.
Of course neither the Telegraph nor the ‘Centre for Migration Control’ (a [thoroughly dodgy think-tank, even by usual right-wing standards](https://bylinetimes.com/2024/02/15/another-new-anti-immigration-pressure-group-is-launched-from-tufton-street-and-met-with-reams-of-media-coverage/)) make any mention of this global pandemic, despite it having a significant impact over both immigration and crime.

The ‘surge’ in crime only seems to exist if you manipulate the data by only including foreign nationals and *not* including people of unknown origin.
The recording of people with unknown origin has gotten far less common in recent years as police forces are more often recording nationalities.
When you calculate the crime rate increase of foreign national + unknown origins, the increase in crime rates is *almost exactly on par with UK nationals*.
This is a non-story written by the telegraph seemingly in collaboration with the right wing think-tank as the telegraph article was published *before* Robert Bates’ article was published do his website.
And also, neither of the articles *actually* cite their sources. They literally just expect you to believe it, like some people in this thread are mindlessly doing.
The rate of increase from, checks notes, lock down when crime was at an all time low because no one was actually going out the house.
It’s like watching a slow motion car wreck in the UK right now. There are actually people that will defend these numbers, repeat them and then vote reform screwing us all over.
It’s funny (it’s not) but I had a conversation with my dad last night and he was telling me it’s disgusting. I’ve just watched a few videos where the police are arresting people for wearing the flag. I had to say to him, right, there is no law for wearing the flag, it’s not illegal, what you are watching there is edited videos where someone has done something else to get arrested and then they are using the video to cause fake outrage. My dads not a stupid person. We are fucking doomed.
