Kosovo Police raises alarm about children’s safety on the internet: Serious cases of self-harm

Kosovo Police have announced that they have recently handled several disturbing cases, where children have made posts on the internet related to self-harm and suicide.
Through a press release from the Kosovo Police, it was announced that thanks to cooperation with citizens and relevant institutions, the police have managed to identify children at risk and ensure their presence, while adding that parents and other responsible mechanisms have been notified for proper handling of the cases.
In the statement, the police called on parents to be careful about what their children do and post online to prevent the dangers that come from the internet.

The Kosovo Police, in the framework of cooperation with citizens and various institutions, has recently handled several cases where posts on the internet by children about self-harm with serious health consequences, but also posts related to suicide, have appeared.
Thanks to the cooperation with citizens and relevant institutions, the Kosovo Police has managed to identify children at risk and ensure their presence. Parents and other responsible mechanisms have been notified for proper handling of the cases.
The Kosovo Police thanks citizens and various institutions for their cooperation and contribution to creating a safer environment on the internet, with special emphasis on children.
At the same time, in order to prevent online dangers that children face, the Kosovo Police calls on all citizens, especially parents, to be careful about what their children do and post online.
Advice and request for parents and children for fair and safe use of the internet:
-parents, talk to your children from time to time about the dangers of the internet, monitor what activities they do online, because this can prevent harm, whether to your child or other children;
-be careful about what photos, videos or other materials your children have on their phones and other computer devices;
-make sure your children are not playing any dangerous games;
-children, BE CAREFUL with whom you associate online and share your personal information, never physically meet unknown people you have met online without telling your parents;
-be careful what you post on social networks;
-do not harass others online;
-do not download or share videos and photos containing child abuse;
-do not play games that require you to overcome challenges and hurt yourself;
-do not stay on the internet for long and without reason;
-Any concerns you have, talk to a parent or friend immediately. You can also call the Police at any time!
