SDSM leader Venko Filipçe said today that a statesman’s approach is needed to unblock European integration, criticizing the prime minister who, according to him, first demands constructiveness, and then rejects every proposal.
“I am very sorry that the prime minister sometimes seeks constructiveness, and other times rejects every proposal. Whether this is part of pre-election folklore or not taking into account the campaign they conducted last year, I cannot say now, but the fact is that nothing is happening in the field of European integration, and the region is moving forward. Albania is moving forward, Montenegro is moving forward with a concrete plan that will completely complete the negotiations by 2027 or 2028. We are practically at a stage where we have practically abandoned the negotiations. And this is the worst thing that can happen to us,” said Filipçe.
He warned that SDSM will prepare a document with clear positions on European integration.
“We will prepare a document that will be a working version, which we will offer during this week, in which I believe that all aspects that are important for the country will be included. We will mention all previous statements, we will mention the obligations that have been undertaken within the framework of the French proposal and we will provide a proposal on how we as SDSM believe we should proceed further, with clear and precise red lines, so that everyone at a table finally knows what we are talking about and how to move forward,” Filipçe emphasized.
He warned of the consequences of blocking the process, emphasizing that young people increasingly see their future abroad.
