Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met in Beijing with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where Kosovo was among the topics discussed.
Vucic said he had an open and frank conversation with Putin on “topics of mutual interest.”
He said they also discussed scientific and military-technical cooperation.
“We also talked about what they call a ‘turning point’, to form in our country as well. We talked about military-technical cooperation, and also about the issue of Kosovo and Metohija. Russia is firmly in the position of Serbia’s territorial integrity,” Vučić said, B92 reports.
He said that the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was also discussed.
“I received clear views of the Russian Federation on this. I believe that President Dodik will also have meetings with the ministers of the Russian government in seven or ten days. It is not easy to talk with Putin for an hour and a half, I have to pay attention to every word,” Vučić said. “We also talked about geopolitical issues, about all aspects of cooperation between Serbia and Russia.”
Vucic said that Putin pointed out to him “that some people do not want to see me at the helm.”
“He respects our independence,” Vucic said.
Vučić will also have high-level meetings with representatives of China.
The President of Serbia also commented on the statements made by the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenkovic, yesterday at the Bled Strategic Forum, who said that Serbia is on the verge of civil war.
“As for Plenkovic’s statements, they are certainly malicious and I am surprised that some of our people do not see this… There will be no civil war in Serbia,” Vucic said.
Vučić also wrote about the meeting with Putin in an Instagram post.
“I expressed my personal gratitude to President Vladimir Putin for his respect and support for preserving the territorial integrity of Serbia, as well as for his friendly attitude towards the Serbian people,” Vučić wrote.
