Five new airline routes will be launched with state subsidies. Flights to Skopje Airport from April 6 next year will be operated from Naples and Budapest, while flights to Ohrid Airport from June 28 from Katowice, Wroclaw and Milan’s main airport, Malpensa, said today Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Aleksandar Nikolloski.

Nikolovski announced that an airline will increase passenger capacity by about 50 percent from next year and will offer 3.300.000 seats to Macedonia.

Subsidies for five more airlines will be nine euros for passengers arriving at Skopje Airport and 12 euros for passengers arriving at Ohrid Airport.

“Flights from Katowice and Wroclaw are very important for the opening of Poland, which is very interested in tourism in Macedonia, while Polish tourists are especially welcome in the Ohrid region,” Nikoloski said at the government press conference.

He stressed that in a month and a half, 11 new airline routes have been announced from the airports in Skopje and Ohrid. Previously, airline routes from Stockholm and Madrid were announced, which will start from November 2, from Cologne, Bari and Prague from December 20, as well as from Larnaca from October 30, for a month and a half, he added, a total of 11 airline routes.
