DECORAH, Iowa (KCRG) – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway is planning to visit three states next month, including a stop in Iowa.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon is visiting to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first organized Norwegian emigration to the United States.
The Crown Prince is scheduled to visit Iowa, Minnesota, and New York from October 6 to October 9.
The trip will emphasize the strong cultural and historical ties between the two nations while also promoting cooperation in business, education, and culture.
His plan includes meeting Governor Tim Walz, visiting Norwegian-American institutions, and attending a business conference. He will also participate in events celebrating the region’s Norwegian heritage.
In New York, the Crown Prince will introduce the “Restauration,” a replica of the 1825 Norwegian emigrant ship. A cultural celebration will occur at Pier 16, South Street Seaport Museum.
The Crown Prince will be accompanied by Norway’s Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, Minister for Trade and Industry Cecilie Myrseth, and a Norwegian business delegation.
