The Kosovo national team suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat away to Switzerland, in the first qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup.
After the end of this meeting, Albanian midfielder Granit Xhaka also spoke in a brief statement to the media.
Xhaka stated that if Switzerland had played with the intensity of the first game, then the result would have been even more profound.
“I can say it was the best first half in a long time. But the second half was not good. We didn’t do the things we planned.”
“Those who know me know that I am self-critical and critical of the team. And we cannot be satisfied with the second half. If we played like in the first half we could have won 6-0 or 7-0.”
“It’s a shame it only ended 4-0, although it was a deserved result. The development now has to be that we have to dominate for 60, 70 or 90 minutes in the match, not just 45.”
“We have a lot of young players who probably still need time to play consistently for 90 minutes. But we wanted three points and we got them comfortably,” said Xhaka.Telegraph/
