The 41-year-old, who was studying to be a nurse, subjected her partner to controlling and coercive behaviour over several months.
NHS dodged a fucking bullet there. Sounds like a total crackpot.

That’s not abuse that’s fucking torture. She tortured that man.

“The victim reported Rigby to the police in March 2022.
She initially denied the offences and blamed the victim, accusing him of being violent, coercive, controlling and manipulative.”
And the only real punishment being 35 days of rehabilitation.

This kind of thing is why we need better provision for male victims of domestic abuse. Whilst women do make up the majority of domestic abuse victims (but that’s narrowing), the vast, vast majority of support is available for women. It’s disparate and there’s a huge gap between the support needed and the support given.
I’m not usually one for separating gendered needs but abusive behaviour from a woman to a man very often looks different from the abuse seen from a man to a woman (and that abusive behaviour is the stereotype and where clearer provision and support is there).
And, despite the slew of incoming comments, her sentence is actually completely in line with the sentencing guidelines. This has been judged at the highest culpability, the highest category – which has a starting point of 30 months. None of the aggravating factors are applicable (that have been reported or indicated), none of the mitigating factors have been applied (even though, to be frank, some probably are applicable, like that she presumably has no similar previous convictions) and she’d had the standard reduction for a guilty plea applied.
How does a woman stop a man from using a toilet in the first place?

Sounds like a totally normal, healthy relationship.

So suspended prison sentence? So she doesn’t spend a day in prison after what was prolonged campaign of abuse? She’s assaulted him, and she gets of free. He lost 2 years of his life to this asshat.

I’m pretty sure if it was the man controlling to this extent and this shit government had actually created enough prison places the man would have been jailed
