On September 6, 1925 Gastone Brilli-Peri won the Italian Grand Prix at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo P2, ensuring the second seasonal victory for the Milanese house and, with it, the World Championship manufacturers in front of the American Duesenberg, winner of the 500 miles of Indianapolis. However, the season was also marked by the tragedy: Antonio Ascari, triumpher a spa, lost his life just a month later in Montléry. That of 1925 was the first world title awarded in the history of Motorsport, and the first of the five world titles conquered by Alfa Romeo: in fact, the World Championships of Formula 1 pilots of 1950 and 1951 were followed and the world championships Marche SportPototypes of 1975 and 1977
