      Without Paywall:

      In brief:

      >-Health insurance companies will cover all costs for abortions from 2027.

      >-Switzerland is thus sending a liberal signal against worldwide abortion restrictions.

      >-The parliamentary decision was passed without any significant political debate.

      >-Opponents of abortion criticise the 12,000 abortions performed in Switzerland every year.

A year from now: “why is the health insurance costs increasing agaaaaain?”

(In favour of the measure, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that maybe we have to accept that healthcare will become more expensive and stop complaining about it every year).

    3. Yeah this is good but the issue is that it’s only up to 12 weeks in Switzerland. So hopefully that gets reworked soon.

But yeah this is good. There is basically no resistance against abortion like there is in the US. The SRF conducted a survey when roe v Wade was overturned and found that there is a massive support from all sides for abortion. Unlike in the US, right wing parties here aren’t inheritantly anti science and religious fanatics, just very neoliberal.

    4. I mean, abortion should for sure be legal and easily accessible, but is this really an incentive we need to give with the current demographic crisis? We should increase mandatory benefits from insurers for mothers, not for abortions.

I guess a woman who doesn’t want the child and can’t afford a few hundred franks for an abortion probably isn’t in a great position to be a mother, but still.

Very good. Women should have a choice on what they do with their bodies. And all those losers against it, they should focus on bigger crimes like war and such

    6. That’s nice. Having abortion is probably already extremely stressful for many reasons. It’ll be at least one small reason less.

consider me ignorant, but isn’t the issue “getting one” rather than “paying for one”?

It sure is nice to have costs covered but if you are healthy, in most countires, getting one is the issue, afaik.

Im for early abortion (only) being legal, but I don’t think I should have to pay for this.

They should more generally getting rid of a lot of dead wood in basic insurance to try and limit increases to closer to inflation.

I see I’m being downvoted for expressing my opinion. Classy.
