Turkey went through real hell in the Round of 16, as they only managed to break Sweden’s resistance in the final minute of the game. In the end, they triumphed 85-79, and head coach Ergin Ataman is certainly hoping that warning was enough for his team to start at full speed against Poland from the opening tip. Shane Larkin has been acting as a true leader on the court. His first instinct is to create for his teammates, but when needed, he steps up himself. He showed against Serbia and Latvia that he can do this at the highest level. Furkan Korkmaz and Ercan Osmani’s shooting has generally worked well throughout the tournament, while Cedi Osman has been excellent on both ends of the court.
Poland once again showed a lot from the underdog position. Three years ago, they reached the semifinals and finished fourth at EuroBasket, which was a sensation. Few expected them to pull off something similar this time, and yet here they are again among the top eight teams in Europe.
