    1. By Andrew Stanton – Weekend Staff Writer:

Oregon state Representative Cyrus Javadi has left the Republican Party to become a Democrat, he announced this week.

In a statement to Newsweek, Javadi said he “switched because the Republican Party abandoned the principles that drew me to it in the first place: limited government, fiscal responsibility, free speech, free trade, and, above all, the rule of law.”

The ‘Pubs haven’t stood for this in Javadi’s entire life.  Better late than never on the realization though.

    3. B—s–t!!!!

      Does he:

      – Support Universal Healthcare?

      – $15ph minimum wage? – the Federal minimum wage has remained unchanged at $7.25ph SINCE 2009!!!

      – Union membership\rights?

      – Support the bodily autonomy of women?

      – Billionaires\millionaires paying their fair share in taxes?

      – Removing the $*176,100 pa* cap on paying social security tax?

      – A pathway to citizenship for undocumented people who entered the country as babies\children?

My guess is that NO, he doesn’t!!!

    4. Is he taking money from big donors and doing their bidding?

Because it doesn’t matter what party you’re in if so.

    5. The Republican Party never abandoned its self-proclaimed principles because it never believed in them in the first place.

Tricia Cotham stole my vote in 2023. Ran democrat, switched to Republican so they got the NC house supermajority.

Do not vote for this man

You’re about to see a lot of these cowards trying to rebrand themselves as we get closer to the midterms next year. Trump has never been a benefit outside of the general election but now being attached to him is going to be actual political poison for anyone not representing corn fields and cotton fields.

Everyone is screaming bloody murder in the comments, but there really isn’t a reason to fight against this.

If he votes with the Dems from now on, we’ve won something.

If he doesn’t, the situation is unchanged.

If we can elect a more left-leaning politician in his district, great.

If we can’t, we haven’t lost anything.

This situation only has upsides and no inherent downsides.

The exact WRONG reaction is shunning him, excluding him, insulting him, or otherwise hurting him, because that discourages others from following him. Reward the behavior you want to see, that’s even more important than punishing behavior you don’t want to see.

I understand some Republicans have a conscience. However, given the nonsense going on in DC..I don’t trust when they switch over.
If you think about it,  If Democrats take DC..  those Republican switchers can sabotage any bill or law Dems want to pass. Let’s remember we had Sinema, McCarthy and Fetterman.

Just because a viper doesn’t bite you now doesn’t mean it won’t bite later.

Better to keep at grabber stick length, just in case.

    11. My state rep switched from democrat to republican immediately after the election and it pissed me off immensely.

Change how you vote in the legislature, since that is what matters, and then run under a new banner and let the people decide.

    12. If he wins he will change back to republican!!! Remember Florida people, it was a con! Wake up people!!!

    13. Do not trust these pigs. It’s fool’s gold. Democrats never F learn when it comes to this. They keep trying to kick the football and it’s jerked away every time.

    14. This is a result of the overton window being absolutely fucked all the way to the far right. This dude is almost assuredly still a ghoul.

    15. Translation: I see which way the wind is blowing and I’m following it.

OR…. He’s going to do a Trojan Horse and flip back once he gets re-elected .

    16. I don’t immediately trust flippers and independents. They’re usually republicans in disguise.

No fucking thank you. Anyone who can call themselves a republican for at least the last 25 years is not a friend to the working class.

Fucking just more DNC trash to take out now.

    18. No-Marsupial-1457 on

      Just hear me out

We all reregister as Republican, then always vote Democrat. Fuck up their entire system

    19. Why? So he can continue the good work of Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema?

Fuck that asshole. Find another party.

    20. So this guy was OK with all the child rape and destruction of the country until… today? And now he flips. Are we supposed to applaud him?

And what happens to the Democratic Party when they start letting all the pedophile defending Nazis in who defect from Trump at this stage? This doesn’t sound like the GOP getting weaker, it sounds like the Democratic Party getting more Nazi.

    21. Don’t trust him! Remember Princess Sinnema and Traitor Manchin? He’s gonna be an obstructionist.

    22. He was fooled by a fantasy. That, or he’s trying to fool voters into falling for the fantasy that a Republican can meaningfully flip
