North, Central American and Caribbean
Qualifying places: Six (including three hosts), plus two into intercontinental play-offs
Co-hosts USA, Canada and Mexico are guaranteed spots at the tournament but no other sides have secured qualification yet.
The group stages conclude in November, with three group winners qualifying automatically and the best two second place finishers going into the intercontinental play-offs.
Oceania
Qualifying places: One, plus one nation into intercontinental play-offs
Oceania qualifying has already ended – with New Zealand beating New Caledonia 3-0 in the final.
New Zealand go through to the World Cup automatically, as a result of the expanded World Cup. Oceania usually only gets a play-off spot.
New Caledonia, a French overseas territory, will take place in intercontinental play-offs .
South America
Qualifying places: Six, plus one into intercontinental play-offs
Qualifying is all done and dusted in South America with Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia all making it through.
Meanwhile, Bolivia are through to the intercontinental play-offs, which will take place in March – featuring teams from Africa, Asia, South America and North America – with two out of six teams going through.
