  1. Pretty cool news, what has led to such a big drop?

Also surprised to see how high Berlin’s homicide rate is, I always thought of Berlin as a much safer city than London.

Can’t wait to see the spin from the “Khan’s London” crowd and people who don’t even live in London.

I’ve felt safer walking through central London than I have walking through Bristol

  3. Being lower than Paris is not a flex they have literal tent city migrant ghettos. Berlin and Copenhagen is a huge win for London though

How will people who don’t live, go or have any intention of going to London cope?

Big blow for the “I could never live in London” crowd.

  5. Wait this can’t be right. All the UK subs have been saying that London is a murder shithole and you can’t step out of a tube without getting stabbed for your phone.

  6. Plunged compared to what?

How are these statistics being compiled and has that changed?

What is the context of those other cities crime stats and have they changed?

You need to read & question *all* of the British press headlines. Like it’s f*cking Pravda under Brezhnev.

Only the CCCP had the decency to run a mere handful of propaganda rags. Rather than an endless deluge of  mendacious shit, in nominally different varieties!

Maybe cost of living has gotten so bad in London people can’t even afford knife to have a stabbing festival.

Hmm, I thought 90% of London population is immigrant? How is a drop in crime rate possible? fake article /s

  9. I suspect that most violent crime stems from alcohol abuse, and that most of it involves no serious consequences, usually just a swollen eye.

  10. This was always obvious. London is way safer than what it was say 20 years ago where gang wars would happen frequently and lots of people wouldn’t know. There’s shows and events in Peckham and Tottenham ffs. What is at a significant high is petty crime though

  11. I’m not British so correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t England invest heavily in first responding help for victims of stabbings through bleeding control kits and trauma teams and such?

It would make sense then that homicide statistics become lower when the victim thankfully survives it.

Last time I tried to report a crime (phone stolen) the met website declined to take any actual details and promised to get back to me, despite not letting me give them any contact details

But sure, crime is way way down, not just reporting of crime.

Edit: since I have to spell it out, they’re fixing the stats. Fixing the stats in property crime, and violent crime. Both.

  13. This is obviously good news but I’d really like to know what schemes have lead to this. We have stats/opinions that crime is rising or falling but it would be nice to have it qualified. I haven’t been into central London for a while but the last I ready, almost half of all phone snatches on scooters in all of Europe still happen in London.

  14. Really? We compare London to Paris now? is that how low we’ve stooped? Comparing our capital to a warzone we regularly take refugees from?

  15. Can’t they add, homicides “reported” rate plunges 13%, so it at least explains where the drop is coming from.

People are going for Pilates in Lewisham and Hackney now. Pilates. In Hackney. And Lewisham.
