The Kosovo Security Forces (Forca e Sigurisë së Kosovës: KSF) has received AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) from the United States during the first week of September, Kosovo Defence Minister Ejup Maqedonci announced on 8 September.

Maqedonci did not provide further details on the acquisition except that it was carried out through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme, and that payment was made in 2021.

earlier report in February 2022 that identified Kosovo as the “allied nation” mentioned in the AeroVironment press release of 9 February 2022. The release disclosed that the company had been awarded a six year, USD10.5 million FMS contract to deliver an undisclosed number of Puma Long-Endurance (LE) systems to “an allied nation” together with related spares, training, and support.

At about the same time as the contract award, Kosovo media reported that the country was to acquire 40 Puma UASs, although authorities in Pristina never confirmed the quantity.
