Rokas confirmed: New rules from October 12 for citizens of the Republic of Macedonia to enter the EU

The EU Entry/Exit System will begin its gradual implementation from October 12. This is a measure taken to strengthen security at all entry points into the EU. It will be gradual, but it will also facilitate the process of entering the EU, EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas said today, according to Portalb.mk.
“In practice, this means that third-country nationals will have to register once with fingerprints and a photograph, but once this has been done, automatic entry at airports and so on can be used for the next entry,” Rokas said.
Rokas also emphasized that the other ETIAS system is not the same and should not create confusion with the Entry/Exit System and that there will be timely information regarding its implementation.

The new measures are part of the Entry/Exit System (EES) and will begin implementation on October 12 of this year.
According to information published on the European Union website, the system will be introduced gradually over the next six months and is expected to be fully operational from April 10 next year. In the meantime, the 29 European countries will introduce the various elements of the system in stages, including systems for collecting biometric data, such as facial photos and fingerprints. This means that at some border points, the collection of biometric data may not start immediately and passengers passing through there will not be immediately entered into the system. Stamping in passports will continue.
