  1. Jeeze that’s mad, always seemed likely to end up this way. Incredibly sad, he probably enjoyed his life however short it was

  2. Heartbreaking. Met him in a strip club in Manchester back in 2012. He was on his own but had a great chat. Bought me a beer. RIP Hitman.

  3. RIP Ricky. Watched the documentary on him a few months ago and came away with seeing how much of a fighter he was. He fought both inside, and outside the ring, overcoming his demons.

    RIP Ricky Hatton.

Absolutely gutting, he was so great for British boxing. Just hope his last days were happy and wish his family all the best.

Ah thats proper sad. After the Tyson, Holifield, Lewis era him and Calzaghe were the only boxers I’d rally gone out of my way to follow all fights. Seemd like a great guy.

  6. Far too young to go, the country as a whole loved this lad when he was on the up and when he got his titles. He gave the country such a loving buzz, someone to just cheer on and have something to be proud of.

    RIP Hitman

  7. Reads like suicide looking at other sources, and just did a mental health doc for Sky. Rest in peace big man, you were loved.

  8. He was a big fan of Man City. No doubt they wil hold a minute’s silence for him at the Etihad, before the match this afternoon.

    RIP Ricky Hatton

  9. In the history of smack talking in boxing, none come close as a line Hatton dropped on Parkinson years ago:

    >”if there was such a thing as re-incarnation, [Floyd Mayweather] would want come back as himself.”

  10. Didn’t see that coming. I know the sport isn’t kind to your health but hes barely older than me
    Just sad

  11. Damn I thought he was older than that. Such a shame. My mate who’s parents retired in pattaya have met him there a few times. Liked his ethanol. Pretty dangorous drug

  12. RIP Ricky. I’ll always remember the army of fans that went to Vegas to support him in the Mayweather fight.

  13. Got goosebumps when I saw this come up. A normal bloke who achieved his dream. Down to earth. Dont think new fans of boxing realise how popular he was. Thousands followed him everywhere. RiP Hitman

  14. Ah, that’s tragic. Was magnificent in his prime. Like a lot of fighters/athletes in general you always knew he’d struggle with life post retirement. The fight he had lined up wasn’t a good idea, he’d already taken a lot of damage, but at least it seemed like something to live for. Sadly it seems like it wasn’t enough.

My deepest sympathies to his family and fans. He was a lad’s lad, an excellent father, great champion with a stellar record only having lost to the P4P best, no doubt a great husband and somebody who would help those in need. Really really shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. 😔
