Yes, the rumors are true: “The White Lotus” is headed to France.

Series star Parker Posey confirmed the newest locale in a red-carpet interview ahead of the Emmy Awards, Saturday, Sept. 14.

“Mike is in the South of France right now. That’s where Season 4 is going to be,” Posey, clad in a feathery purple gown, told E! ahead of the show, adding: “I have no idea if I’m in it.”

Posey, who became a breakout star during the show’s Season 3 run, joked that Jennifer Coolidge, who was a fan favorite during the series’ first two seasons, could make a return from the dead (spoiler alert: Her character, Tanya McQuoid, died in Season 2).

“When you’re at the top of a mountain, people can hallucinate spirits,” she joked. “I think Coolidge can come back, depending on the location. Like in the Alps somewhere.”

Parker Posey arrives for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theatre at LA Live in Los Angeles on Sept. 14, 2025.

The news confirms slowly building speculation that the wildly popular resort drama was set to shoot its fourth season in France. The move represents a shift in tone for a show that has made tropical locales its staple.

“For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels,” show creator Mike White said in an after-episode video feature.

HBO programming executive Francesca Oris poured fuel on the fire, revealing the show was planning a European vacation. Orim who spoke to Deadline during Season 3’s debut in February, said “we’ll know soon” when discussing the upcoming season’s location.

“I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe,” Orsi told Deadline.

When will Season 4 of ‘White Lotus’ premiere?

Before Season 3’s premiere, HBO announced it had already renewed “The White Lotus” for a fourth season.

However, a release date for Season 4 is not yet known. Max did not offer more information on the upcoming season when contacted by USA TODAY.
